Human adrenal gland maturation is a complex and comparatively badly understood process. X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) is one of the most common hereditary disorder of peroxisomal disease, that is characterised by afflicted peroxisomal beta-oxidation, consequent aggregation of very long-chain fatty acids carbon atoms and variations in the ABC transporters namely ABCD1 gene. Some of the symptoms, diagnostic procedures, ALD support and treatment options are presented.
